Hey you, you have the power to change the world.

"Me? You talking to me?"

Yes, you.

"But you don't know me from Adam, how can you say that?"

You're right. I don't know you. But I know you're reading this. And that's quite possibly because you're interested in La Récup' and maybe because you too want to help reduce waste and build stronger communities. Or perhaps you're just wondering who this crazy person is who thinks you have the power to change the world?

"Well, a bit of both to be honest! But I'm not a politician, and I don't want to be one, so how can someone like me make a difference?"

The power to change the world is no longer exclusively that of political leaders or corporate CEOs. Without doubt, in the western world, the power is actually in the hands of people, each of us as individuals and as members of communities.

"Ok. So what should I do?"

Well, that's the beauty of it. It's not for me to tell you. It's up to you. All I can say is that I hope you do something positive and make a difference to the future of humanity. Because it would be too bad not to take advantage of the potential you have.

"Hey, you can't get away that easily! It's not fair! How about you give me some ideas any least?"

OK. So the biggest problem the world faces, one that everyone can do something about, is global warming, or climate sustainability. In this area, you can make your own contribution in your personal life and, just as importantly, you can educate and influence others to do the same.

"Really? You're saying that what I do will have an impact?"

There’s no doubt it will. Not just what you do in your life, but your ability to influence others around you and, if you want, to mobilise people in a way that will positively motivate politicians at local, national and international level. So that they will not only talk the talk, but be brave enough to make a vital difference themselves.

"It looks like I've got some work to do!"

That's for sure. Think about how you want to live your life, and what you want to leave to future generations. You can do it. Good luck!
